RailCorp's failure to introduce station rationalisation through Stations Functional Agreement now sees management cost cutting through the non filling of rosters.
The RTBU is currently in disagreement with RailCorp on:
• Failure to fill vacant positions in accordance with the 2005 Multi Employer Certified Agreement.
• Filling of all authorised vacancies in all grades.
• Dispute over assessment processes for wages and salaried grades.
• Station closure and non filling of shifts.
• Breaching long standing agreements regarding acting in higher grade.
• Non payment of higher grade rate when acting in a higher grade position.
The Union is seeking legal advice to identify the level of management liability for any breach of OH&S should an employee or member of the public suffer because of staff shortages or station closures.
To assist the RTBU in resolving these disputes, Members are requested to undertake a risk assessment at their station when authorised positions are not covered or the station is closed. This information should be faxed or emailed to the Union office. The RTBU will use this information to assist member campaigns to hold management and the State Government accountable for the proper customer service and safety on CityRail stations.
The success of the campaign depends on each member taking an interest in this matter and liaising with their workplace delegate and providing the Union with information.
