Assessment Update - RTBU Win on Assessment Process

3 October 2006, 12:26pm

Further to Bulletin No: 82/2006 the RTBU met with RailCorp regarding the Assessment Process for CSA's.

Following the RTBU raising specific concerns regarding the Assessment process RailCorp have made a commitment to respond prior to any further CSA Assessment process.

In a major victory, the RTBU have been able to secure a commitment that all CSA 1's who previously were told that they would not be offered a position, as there was no successful applicant, will be offered the CSA 1 positions they applied for in the last round of Assessments based on an eligibility list. Those who fail to be recommended for appointment will be given appeal rights.

In response to the RTBU's concerns RailCorp have also tabled a proposal to deal with CSA 1 transfers. The proposal introduces a ballot where members will have the opportunity to nominate a location and position type (fixed-reduce time-relief).

The RTBU have sent the proposal to delegates for comment and will report back shortly.

We also raised concerns about competent employees in other grades applying for positions of the same grade and RailCorp have stated that they will investigate this matter further and respond to the RTBU.

Members will be kept informed.
