A new National Standard relating to obesity and sleep apnoea will come into effect on 20 January, 2013. A worker is to be assessed as part of their next scheduled health assessment.
These effects are relevant to both Category 1 and Category 2 Safety Critical Workers.
The RTBU has had discussions with the National Transport Commission and industry employer groups and as a result of our negotiations, RTBU members will only be assessed as part of their next assessment – whenever that falls due.
The Rail Tram and Bus Union want to provide you with relevant information to help you meet the standards. So we are conducting “Fit, Healthy & United” road shows in November with rt health fund officers to explain the changes for Rail Safety Workers. In addition, the rt health officers, (Dr) Dr Jui Tham and Nurse will be conducting general health checks such as: blood pressure readings and BMI calculations.
The depots identified thus far for visits are:
Flemington Tuesday 6 November 8.30am – 11.30 am Top Carpark
Mortdale Tuesday 6 November 1.00pm – 4.00pm Carpark
Central Friday 9 November 8.30am – 4.00pm Next to Platform 15
