OCR Reviews heading to Fair Work Australia

19 January 2010, 12:10pm

The current situation regarding OCR reviews will be referred to Fair Work Australia for arbitration. RailCorp agreed to undertake this course of action following threats from RailCorp to commence reviews today and the RTBU’s refusal to participate in the reviews.

The RTBU reiterated its position to RailCorp at a meeting this morning that we believed RailCorp could not legally conduct OCR reviews due to:

1. The current Union Collective Agreement clearly stating that the “current OCR assessment system is to be used to determine grades of Station Managers/ Duty Managers”.

2. Correspondence received from RailCorp in 2008 which confirms that OCR reviews are only conducted at stations where there has been a major infrastructure change.

3. Desk top “OCR reviews” are not recognised by the RTBU as they were conducted in the absence of unions.

Stations where major infrastructure changes have occurred will have OCR reviews conducted with onsite reviews commencing this week.

Members will be kept informed of the case as it progresses.
