Lets Fix It Campaign

13 August 2009, 2:15pm

"Fixing The Network" Campaign Launched. The RTBU recently formally launched its "Fixing the Network" Discussion Paper which builds on the previous "Back On Track" and "Moving On" reports.
It's a proactive approach to fixing the network and improving the desirability of the rail network for the commuters and sets out the RTBU's fundamental principles and directions for sound public transport planning and performance.

It works on building ties with the community, with policy makers and with Government to see well- intentioned plans actually come to fruition.

The discussion paper refers to 3 "Shovel Ready" (which means ready to go, only needs the funding required) projects that should commence rather than the Cross City Metro.

These projects are:-

  • 1. North West Rail Link from Epping to Rouse Hill
  • 2. Epping to Parramatta Rail Link
  • 3. South West Rail Link from Glenfield to Leppington.

The growth of Sydney is inevitable and any Government in power must work together with genuine stakeholders such as the general community, RTBU, local government and others to achieve a sustainable transport future.

We are currently conducting focus groups with members across most regional areas to seek your ideas and suggestions on how the network can be improved. For times and dates of these one hour workshops see the timetable.
